Tofu

DISCLAIMER: These days, I try not to push my views on anyone, and while i don't feel that I preach at all, I don't even wanna risk pissing someone off, so if you could care less about the food I eat, then go ahead and skip the following, it won't hurt my feelings. But since I feel pretty passionate about food, I felt I should share. If anybody is interested, i'd love to talk with them about any aspect of their diet or mine, even if they jsut want to argue.....

First off, by using 'diet', I do not mean a fad diet, I'm just referring to the way I eat. I'm gonna take this opportunity to blast the Atkins diet, just out of spite. The Atkins is supposedly great for losing weight. Wanna know why? by severely limiting your carbs, you are putting your body into a state called 'ketosis' where it goes into survival mode and out of desperation starts burning fat in order to stay alive. Does it work? yes. Is it healthy? fuck no. stresses the hell out of your system. Oh and Dr Atkin? yeah he's dead....

The Canadian Food Guide is fucked. Pure propaganda, I shit you not. They recommend way too much dairy, meat, and grains to be able to shit on a regular basis. I esaily shit twice a day. don't laugh, I'm stoked....

So it's day 2 of being a vegan. That means no animal products whatsoever, like cheese, eggs, butter, parmesan (my fave), most deserts and cookies, and even honey. I didn't realise till today that my salad dressing has feta in it, so I'm gonna make some from scratch. Also my mom tricked m einto eating some tortelini (cheese inside) in the soup yesterday, but i caught that in a few bites. my family is surprisingly unsupportive. anyways, i don't know how long i can keep the vegan thing up for.

Diet is quite low, although not like the above, in carbs and grains, and VERY low in fat and no trans fats whatsoever. For those in the known, my blood pressure is usually 105/55. The only thing i seem to eat everyday consistantly is the cereal, the 3 fruits, and salad. A bowl of cereal a day, for example, granola, all bran, and some multi-bran, with hemp seeds, flax seed, and raisins, dried cranberries and currants on top. for example. That's my major source of carbs and grains. Lunch is always almost exclusively veggies. At least a salad per day, with minimal dressing and some parmesan on top. My salads are hearty, with as many veggies as we have. For dinner, some veggie concoction. Snacks could be dates with peanut butter, toast with jam, and fruits, especially apples, bananas, and oranges (one of each per day). I don't eat any meat. As much organic as possible. And always fresh when practical. Never anymore ingredients than necesary. PB better contain nothing except peanuts. Jam is home-made, as will the salad dressing be soon. ALL soup is home-made from scratch, except maybe canned tomatoes. Two pots of tea per day without sweetening and no black tea, sometimes even fresh tea(sliced lemon and ginger). I should be getting much more tahn the daily recommendation of water, although I hear that 8 glasses a say is a myth, but I just look at my piss to see how much fluid I need No coffee ever. i don't do caffeine. at least a clove of garlic per day, if not 2-3. I never eat fast food. Never add sugar or salt to anything unless I'm cooking with it. Spicy foods as hot as possible. Brown rice or brown rice noodles instead of white noodles. Never use microwave to reheat fresh food (kills enzymes). I only drink pure juice, although mainly jsut tea. never pop. never ice cream. soy milk or rice milk, none of that pus-infested, bleached shit. lots of hempseed added to anything, best source of protein you'll find. no more butter and especially not margine. almost no cheese, except my vice, parmesan, which i add to every salad, soup, and pasta. occasionally cheese in a dish too, if my mom makes it. eggs rarely and only if they're free run, organic, veggie-fed, or some combination of those.

And how does it feel? Well I'm too biased to tell you. I've been vegetarian all my life and discipline with food is easier for me, but god help me when it comes to desserts, NO self control at all, I disgust myself. Email me if you want any more specific details or my opinion on anything.
