So I ride my bike in one direction, to the train bridge over the river nearby, then i get off my bike and find a trail down to the river and start following the trail back roughly towards the direction I'd came from. I follow this trail for a while and the steep bank eventually flattens out to a marshy area, but I'm still following the river. I knew where this river goes and I knew I'd end up really close to my house. At the end of this trail, as things are flattening out, there's a road that starts at the end of this trail. I'm getting farther from the river, but still basically paralleling it. The forest was really fucking cool and I started to feel really good. Almost as if I was high on something, it was great. After a while I start to wonder how much longer it could possibly be.
The original bike ride was like 10 minutes, and i'd been walking for a long time now. Tthe forest changed a few times, but it was still the same road. Eventually I get to a fork in the road, and go left, away from the river cuz I figure it'll be a shortcut towards my house, since it had to be pretty fuckin close by now, I'd walked at least a km since the road started. Anyways, so I'm walking down this fork and it turns into a trail, and pretty quick, I got lost, but thankfully there was flagging tape, so i found a trail without having to back track, and I followed it back to the road and thought I'd just found a shortcut that went ep the road more. So I'm walking for a ways, and I notice a tree across road that looks awfully familiar and the same branch was broken that I'd broken before. Then i start to notice other things. Now of course your're saying, 'obviously he'd gone in a loop', but it's not that simple. I was always heading in roughly the same direction and didn't do any backtracking. Plus I was only on that trail for like 7 minutes and when I got back to the road, it took longer than that (even though walking the road is quicked) to get back to that fork again. Something didn't add up, plus either way, I'd still walked way further than I should've had to to get back to my house. So I took the other fork this time and found recognizable territory pretty quick and finally got home. I'd ridden my back for like 10 minutes, and then walked for more than an hour to get back. I dunno, it still trips me out. made me view this whole area quite differently. Really fucked with my head and I still have a headache.
