I'm not sure how last night's post will be received. Not that I don't stand by that stuff, but I was neither at my articulate best, nor was I able to devote enough attention to each topic to add enough weight to my arguments/suggestions. Two more thoughts though. If you listen to a band that claims to be for revolution and all that fun stuff, it's probably worth a closer look to separate the poseurs. Go to their website. Do they actually DO anything besides play music? Are there articles, essays, good links to charities, action networks, etc? Are they sponsored byt some fucking shoe company? Some bands sacrifice authenticity ing order to reach a bigger audience, like Rage Against the Machine being on a Sony label, and Sweatshop Union being played on Much Music. Take a closer look at these bands. My other thought was just about make-up and hair gel. I'm sure you've heard the arguments, so there's really nothing to say except that I think it looks ridiculous and your money could be better spent. Something else. Vote Green
Well I had plans to go to Vancouver today, stay with Trina, and then go to a party in Kelowna with her, but those plans fell to the floor, through no fault of our own. Still pretty bummed though, it made me realize how stoked I was to hang out with her. She's on of the only people I've ever met on my own outside of Golden that truly interest me. We met at a Vancouver party that I'd gone to alone and we've had intensive online communications, ever since. She's an amazing girl and we've had some awesome conversations. If I could only have met one person since I left Golden (which is what I've done), I couldn't have found someone better. We've broken into new territory for both of us, with a policy of honesty that hasn't steered us astray yet. Anyways, i could go on and I might someday, but this should suffice for now. I'd link to the day in her blog when we met, but I think the site is down right now. I was pretty bummed when our plans went under, couldn't really sleep and fell into this vicious thought cycle that extended to many facets of my life. That was pretty lame, but I've recovere.
Bob Marley's No Woman No Cry. I think people often misinterpret this song, which really does injustice to who Bob was. At first glance, the message appears to be that if it wasn't for women, we wouldn't cry. I believe the actual connotation of the title is that he's telling a woman that there's no need to cry ("No Woman, Don't Cry"), because the song talks about having to leave. See for yourself.
Warsaw Pack, I saw thse guys in Kamloops and they put on a fantastic 1hr45min show. 7 piece band that includes a turntable, drums, guitar, and saxophones, but the lyrics are so wild. Be sure to check them out if you get the chance, but for now download the track Doomsday Device.
